Sports Injuries

  • Sports injuries are often minor injuries at the time, however they can have a significant impact on recreational activities.

Frequently they are injuries to ligaments, tendons and muscles. Early diagnosis and appropriate advice and physiotherapy can prevent these injuries becoming a long-term problem.

Occasionally, further investigation with x-ray or MRI scan is required, and appropriate steroid injection can accelerate recovery in certain conditions.

What happens when I see a sports doctor?

You'll have an initial 1 hour appointment. During this time we will go through a detailed history of you problem which will enable us to perform an effective physical examination leading to an accurate diagnosis. The physical examination will include an assessment of your joint range of motion, muscle power and functional testing including special test to aid differential diagnosis allowing us to rule out all other possible causes to your symptoms. A treatment plan will then be formulated along with a home management program to initiate your recovery.
